About the Winery:
Louis M. Martini chose Napa Valley for a single, simple reason, its unmatched grape quality. Over the decades, the Martini family pushed the art and science of grape growing and winemaking into uncharted territories, making wines that not only defined Napa, but set a standard for quality and age-ability that has since become synonymous with the region.

About the Wine:

Lot No.1 is Cabernet Sauvignon at its peak form of expression. Its history dates back over 70 years when Louis M. Martini began a practice that would become a hallmark of his winery. While tasting through Cabernet aging in the cellar, he began selecting exceptional lots, choosing ones that showcased the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon character and designating them to craft his finest wine.

Vintage 2019 was near perfect, with bountiful rain early in the year and fog-shrouded mornings over a long, warm summer providing abundant hang-time teasing out great color, structure and soft tannins.

Ratings & Reviews

96 Points, Editor's Choice - Wine Enthusiast:
"Deep and concentrated blueberries, dark chocolate and espresso flavors fill out this powerful but polished wine whose firm but gentle tannins will carry it to a long life. It's the top-of-the-line Cabernet from the now Cabernet-centric 90-year-old winery. Best from 2027–2040." - Jim Gordon (Sep 2023)

96 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 95% new French oak. It is hitting all the marks of the 2019 vintage with exceptional acid tension balanced by imminently dark berry flavours and nuanced by perfectly integrated cedarwood spices. This is a wine built for the ages, with polish and poise. The use of less American Oak in favour of more French oak in the cellar has helped this wine find its voice, which rings out loud and clear in a full-bodied style that is polished, with precise blackberry fruit, beautiful forest floor notes, and gorgeous Chines five spice, graphite, and liquorice notes woven around a tapestry of extremely fine-grained tannins. Compact, tightly knit and mineral-rich on the long 60-second finish." - Jonathan Cristaldi (Dec 2023)

95 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Martini's top Cabernet has been largely produced from purchased fruit in the past, but the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1 is almost half from Stagecoach. It also includes important contributions from Coombsville, Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain and Calistoga. Cherries and cassis dominate the nose, graced with faint herbal notions and a delicate framing of new French oak. Full-bodied, expansive, rich and velvety, it finishes with softly dusty tannins and hints of cocoa." - Joe Czerwinski (May 2022)

93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"A ripe, polished style that flows easily, with cassis and warmed plum notes leading the way, backed by cocoa, melted licorice and roasted alder on the finish. Drink now through 2030. 1,390 cases made." - JM (Oct 2023)
