Limerick Lane "Marquis" Zinfandel 2021

The Marquis Zinfandel is a stunning blend of renowned sites, such as Banfield, Carlisle, Maffei, Monte Rosso, Bedrock, and Limerick Lane, and is almost like a musical "supergroup" in a bottle.

This great Zinfandel opens with a plush, exceptionally complex aromatic mix, with scents of dark cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, peppercorn, licorice root and scalding minerality of seemingly equal intensity line up at center stage. The flavors and long-lingering finish are a grand replica of the nose, and the tension created on the palate keeps the attention riveted, so despite great textural richness and operatic scale this Zin remains dinner wine. Although it already gives real pleasure, it will give more yet in another three years, and will likely be at least as delicious a decade later. A blend of six highly regarded and ancient vineyards, 13 barrels produced.

The 2021 Zinfandel Marquis is a blend of several elite sites. Dense, plush and explosive, the 2021 possesses tremendous textural depth and resonance. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal, blood orange and sweet pipe tobacco are some of the many notes that fill out the layers. Resonant and super-expressive, with a long, sustained finish, the 2021 is another sublime wine in this range. (Drink between 2026-2037)

The 2021 Zinfandel Marquis offers up an expressive cologne of eucalyptus, tobacco, and blackcurrants. Full bodied and structured, it has ripe and broad tannins, expansive black cherry fruit, fresh lift, and a hint of espresso. It’s long on the palate and deserving of a bit more time in cellar.
