About the Winery:

In 1992 Debbie and Randy Lewis established a small family winery in Napa Valley and were later joined by their son Dennis in 1999. In 2021, Justin Vineyards and Winery purchased the winery, although Randy and Dennis remain involved in the winemaking; Josh Widaman served as Winemaker through the 2020 vintage when he was succeeded by James McCeney. Since 2023, Jordan Jeffries has been the Winemaker.

The grapes are sourced from some of the best sites throughout Napa and Sonoma County and total production is approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Notes from the Winemaker:

Picked at full ripeness and maturity. Hand sorted and de-stemmed to small stainless steel tanks and open top fermenters, the wines are pressed off at dryness after 2-4 weeks on the skins. Bordeaux varietals are aged primarily in new French oak for 19 months then bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes:

The depth of fruit, superb structure, and potent yet polished character of our 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon places this among our best bottlings ever. Opening with multiple layers of black-skinned, earthy fruit nuanced with floral, spice, and mineral aromas, it is opulent and multifaceted. Building to tremendous presence, the wine gradually gives way to an enduring finish of fine-grained tannins.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - The Wine Independent:
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon bursts with bombastic notes of plum preserves, warm cassis, and chocolate-covered cherries followed by hints of lavender and Indian spices. Big, concentrated, and full-on full-bodied, the palate is packed with black fruit preserves and chewy tannins, finishing long and spicy." – LPB (Dec 2023)

91 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Lewis's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark hued and seemingly impenetrable to light. Black cherries and plums mark the nose of this full-bodied wine. It's rich, thick, even almost a touch oily, supple and super ripe yet not raisined and tinged with mocha and dark chocolate on the lingering, velvety finish. It's a statement-making style that some will likely detest, while others will adore." - Joe Czerwinski (Dec 2023)

90 Points - James Suckling:
"Sweet cherries, cassis, warm herbs, vanilla and sweet spices on the nose. It’s full-bodied with chalky tannins. Rich and creamy, with loads of sweet berries and sweet spices on the palate and onto the dense finish. Drink or hold." (Mar 2024)
