About This Wine:
- Nebbiolo from 40-year-old vines located in Neive
- Bordini is a 4ha plot purchased by Giorgio Rivetti in 2006 directly from the last of the Bordini family, who farmed the vineyard for over 300 years
- Vines planted to calcareous soils at 240 meters above sea level
- Aged 18 months in used French barriques
- Bottled unfined/unfiltered and aged for an additional year in bottle before release
- 1,083 cases produced annually
Tasting Notes:
The bouquet shows blueberry, roses, violet, raspberry and mint. The palate has an intrinsic minerality, with lingering hints of sage, bright red fruit, silky tannins and stunning elegance.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - James Suckling:
"Pretty ripe fruit with citrus and baking spices on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with very fine tannins that give tension and framing to the wine. Better in two or three years." (Jun 2023)
93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The La Spinetta 2020 Barbaresco Bordini (with 10,000 bottles made) has a spicy note on first nose that recalls cinnamon and a touch of something darker like crushed clove. This warm-vintage expression of Nebbiolo embraces rich fruit aromas of blackberry and dark currant, and there is an earthy side with rusty nail and potting soil. It closes with high-toned accents of balsam herb or eucalyptus oil." - Monica Larner (Aug 2023)
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Medium ruby/orange in color, the 2020 Barbaresco Bordini comes from a site with more fertile soils and is high-toned on the nose, with bright lift and fresh spice in its notes of ripe cranberry, dried roses, and salty earth. Medium-bodied, with fine but present tannins and a mouthwatering finish with a hint of dusty earth, it can be enjoyed over the next 10 years." - Audrey Frick (May 2024)
92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2020 Barbaresco Vigneto Bordini is redolent of crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, white pepper. This mid-weight, nervy Barbaresco has much to offer, especially if the tannins soften a bit. This is the most floral and mid-weight of the Spinetta Barbarescos." - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2023)
