About this Winery:
Bodega La Guita is an integral part of the history of Sanlucar de Barrameda as the sherry is still made in the original building that housed the Hospital de la Santa Misericordia (XVI ) whose door is featured on the label. La Guita, who produces the number one Manzanilla in Spain also makes an En Rama style sherry that comes from 100 % sanluqueña (Palomino) grapes predominately from Pago de Miraflores, one of the most emblematic vineyard sites in Sanlúcar.

Their winemakers make a special selection from sherry casks in a one hundred year old solera system from the winery located in Misericordia y Pago Sanlúcar Viejo. The wine undergoes a light filtering to avoid impurities, yielding the pure version of La Guita Manzanilla. En Rama style sherry is bottled once a year and this expression was bottled in October 2015. The En Rama Manzanilla is extracted directly from the barrels after about 5 to 6 years and bottled without going through the process of clarification and stabilization.

Varietal composition: 100% Palomino

Fermentation container: Stainless steel tanks

Length of alcoholic fermentation: 7 - 10 days

Aged five years in American oak

Tasting Notes: Golden brown in color. On the nose baked apple, hints of hazelnut and Chamomile and a herbal note of lemon thyme, newly baled hay and salt air. On the palate preserved lemon peel, subtle iodine, almond and green olive give way tangy dried apricot and mandarin and a sea urchin richness.

Food Pairing: La Guita En Rama is a perfect partner for tapas. Crunchy fried calamari, smoky serrano ham, earthy olives and salty cheeses pair beautifully with the light fresh style of this Fino Sherry.
