Notes from the Winemaker:
From its foundation in the early nineties, La Fiorita Estate has always sought to perfect the longevity and aromatic complexity of its Brunello to illustrate the magical harmony between the diverse terroirs, climate and Sangiovese grape- the Star of Montalcino. Since her arrival in 2011, Natalie Oliveros has moved the Estate to an organic certification. Together with her business partner Louis Camilleri they acquired additional vineyards and built a Cantina combining sharp architecture with the proper tools to vinify and age her Brunello.
About the Wine:
This bottling of 100% Sangiovese Grosso hails from two warm vineyards in the southern part of Brunello di Montalcino in Castelnuovo dell’Abate. The grapes grow on clay and galestro soils upon vines that range in age from 12 to 35 years old, with a south/south east exposure. Fermentation occurs in Slovenian oak vats. The wine is then aged for 24 months in French oak (30% new) followed by 6 months in stainless steel.
Aromatically the wine has notes of dried rosemary, basil, and thyme, as well as crushed violets, red berries and an underlying flintiness. On the palate the wine is savory, with a saline undertone as well as perfectly ripened red fruits and a smooth tannic structure.
Tasting Notes:
With cherrywood or cedar, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino has a savory, almost spicy side that follows garden herb, cola, dark cherry, plum and sweet cherry.

"Despite ageing in large casks, subtle oak top notes suggest vanilla and wood spice. These meld seamlessly with distinct Mediterranean scents of mint and rosemary. Fully charged, upfront tannins wrap around a lush dark plum and peach-laden core; the countering, citrussy backbone coaxes out a tangerine tang. Finishes a tad dry, though another year in bottle could sort that out. La Fiorita fans will be happy to learn that the estate's selection bottling 'NO' was also produced in 2021, but it is being held back for further ageing in bottle.
