Notes from the maker:
Matured wholly in air-dried, hand-selected ex-bourbon casks, the 'unashamedly excellent' Old Pulteney 12-years-old is the definitive expression in the Old Pulteney family.

Traditionally crafted using techniques that other distillers have long abandoned, this winner of numerous gold medals at the most prestigious international competitions is a high water-mark of quality spirits.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Deep amber, red golden (with a slight pink hue) sparkling with a copper glow.

Nose:
Medium to high intensity, honeycomb, vanilla tablet, soft sawdust, oatcakes, with a briny hint of sea air.

Palate:
Dry, medium bodied and smooth, redolent of honey, cream, chocolate peanuts, mint, and citrus. Faintly salty with a slight spicy note.

Finish:
A sweet and long-lasting with toffee, brine, and lemon.

Proof
: 40% ABV (80 Proof)

Awards/Reviews:

Double Gold - SF World Spirits Competition 2023

93 Points - Intl Wine & Spirits Competition 2023

"A butterscotch nose with citrus fruits and an underlying vanilla sweetness. A floral palate with some light barley sugar characters and finishing well; an easy drinking and attractive malt."

94 Points, Finalist, Great Value - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2021
"This is a delightfully rugged dram that speaks of rocky beaches and windswept fields. Brine soaked barley flavors dominate the effusive nose and are pleasantly joined by green apple and ripe pear fruits on the palate."

Gold Medal - San Francisco Spirits Competition 2021, 2020

Gold - Intl Spirits Challenge 2021

Best Buy - Wine Enthusiast
-
"The nose is delicate, with almonds, honey, and floral notes. Malt and toffee on the palate, with spicy oak and a hint of brine. The medium-length finish is nutty, with wood spices." - Whisky Advocate
