94 Points - VinePair
"This is a rich single malt with an incredibly approachable profile. A marriage of whiskies aged in sherry-seasoned American and European oak barrels, it delivers toasted nuts, dried fruits, and leather on the nose, followed by vanilla, pepper, and candied ginger on the palate. The honeyed sweetness that runs throughout will satisfy all whisk(e)y drinkers, not just Scotch aficionados."
90 Points, Rank #17, Whisky Advocate Top 20 of 2017
"Two oaks are better than one in this single malt, which marries whiskies matured in sherry-seasoned casks of both American and European oak. The sherry imparts aromas of raisins, figs, hazelnuts, blanched almonds, candied orange peel, and leather. A backbone of vanilla sweetness on the palate supports layers of ginger and white pepper, dark chocolate, leather, raisins, toasted hazelnuts, and orange oil. This Macallan joins the core line between the Sherry Oak and Fine Oak ranges. Warming and rich without being syrupy, it doubles up on accessibility with its balance and remarkably affordable price for its quality and age." —Susannah Skiver Barton

"This is a well-rounded, even delightful expression of Macallan, showing off a nice balance between traditional American wood and sherry cask aging. On the nose, the sherry influence clearly dominates, though sharp orange peel and winey notes find balance in some caramel underpinnings. On the palate, a complex array of flavors await, beginning with fresh cereal before moving into more citrus, plus notes of coconut, caramelized banana, and even a curious touch of mint. The finish is lengthy but soothing and gentle, surfacing more of those new wood-fueled vanilla notes, a bit of leather, and some black pepper, which adds some grip to the otherwise lithe and supple body. Great balance from start to finish, and though it drinks a touch on the young side, it’s quite enchanting as a whole. Die-hard Macallan fans won’t have any complaints here. The rest of you ought to give it a try, too."

"Sip or mix this single malt, aged in American and European ex-sherry barrels. Mellow honey and smooth, nutty flavors taper off into a long fade that shows vanilla, citrus, sweet spices and a hint of cocoa."
"The taste is classic and fresh, slightly sweet and vaguely smokey, like chewing on a straw of honey-dipped hay while lounging in front of an old stone fireplace. It is without a doubt a delightfully easy-to-drink dram." - The Whisky Wash
