About the Whisky:
The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old forms part of our Sherry Oak range which features a series of single malt whiskies matured exclusively in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez for richness and complexity. A matured character, the 12 Years Old delivers rich wood spice and dried fruits and a natural rich gold color.
When matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain, our rich, fruity and full bodied ‘new make’ spirit is transformed into a classic single malt. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for 12 years and is brought together in this rich and complex whisky characterized by spice and dried fruit and a natural rich golden color.

Awards/Reviews:
Grade: A- (Drinkhacker)
"In many ways, it’s the purest essence of the sherry-obsessed Macallan. On the nose, the whisky presents as nutty and slightly earthy, even mushroomy at times. There’s a playful floral element here, more potpourri mixed with gentle perfumed notes, the full experience fading into notes of coconut and a touch of leathery malt. Balanced — but less blantantly citrus-forward sherry than expected. The palate continues the nutty — and slightly beefy — theme, while sweetening things up just a bit. Approachable and fully quaffable in its enduring gentleness, flavors run from sesame and coconut husk to marzipan and, eventually, a squeeze of orange peel. Quite malty, with an edge of oak throughout, the finish has just a touch of tannin but never feels stodgy or musty."
93 Points, Top 100 Spirits of 2017 - Wine Enthusiast
"Look for a rich butterscotch scent and a hint of fresh apricot. On the palate, this Sherry-matured single malt layers on concentrated caramel, butterscotch and custard, finishing long and spiced on a hint of orange peel."
"A classic Macallan nose of sherry, baking Christmas cake, dried fruits, hot butter, and old leather. Jaffa oranges, brittle toffee, and light oak on the smooth, full palate. Relatively long in the finish, with spice, malt, oak, and a final hint of smoke."
-Whisky Advocate
"This is a silky smooth sip. There’s a pleasant warmth but not a hint of an oily heat or burn. The finish leaves you with oak, a touch of spice, and a desire for another dram. The Macallan 12 is a perfect choice for first-timers you’re attempting to initiate into a love of whisky, or more seasoned whisky imbibers simply looking for a rock solid, dependable drink." - The Whiskey Reviewer
