Notes from the Winemaker:

After maturing in barrel for approximately 50 years, the extremely rare “Collection” vintages are transferred to demijohns, in order to preserve their qualities and control the loss of volume known as the “angels’ share”. The most venerable examples are stored in the “Paradis”, a small aging cellar set aside to protect these precious armagnacs.

Ratings & Reviews:

94-95 Points - Vert de Vin

"The nose is elegant and offers deepness, subtlety, complexity, a small intensity as well as a beautiful aromatic palette. It reveals notes of lemon, lemon flowers and small notes of vine peach associated with fine touches of lime, apple flowers as well as slight hints of fresh pink lychee, discreet hints of rose, nutmeg, spices and an imperceptible hint of black tea. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, elegant, beautifully defined and offers a fine acidulous frame, gourmandise, complexity and a small deepness. On the palate this Armagnac expresses notes of quenette, juicy vine peach and small notes of crystallized lemon associated with small touches of dried citrus, lemon flowers as well as a hint of lime, nutmeg, toasted hazelnut, a subtle hint of citron, potpourri, cedarwood and a very discreet hint of spices / caramelization."

90-95 Points - Wine Enthusiast:

"The bouquet smells engaging if subtly, of dried yellow fruit. Palate entry offers leathery, mature tastes of nut paste, marzipan, treacle, and dark chocolate; midpalate is chunky, sweet, raisiny, pruny and fat. Finishes huge, assertive and diametrically opposed to the fey bouquet." - P.P. (10/1/2009)
