Notes about Whiskey:
Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is a glorious tribute to the town and those who kept its whiskey alive, proudly wearing the colour of County Westmeath on its label. It is the second limited release whiskey to be 100% distilled and matured at Ireland's oldest licensed distillery, and the oldest expression to be released since distillation resumed at Kilbeggan in 2010. Double distilled, once through the oldest working whiskey pot still in the world, Kilbeggan Single Pot Still is a unique mash of malted barley, raw barley, and 2.5% oats that was inspired by historical recipes from the distillery's heyday in the late-1800s.

Tasting Notes:

NOSE: Initial fresh crisp aroma followed by apple, pear and melon. Jasmine and hazelnut notes combine with an almost honeycomb sweetness.

TASTE: Spice becomes apparent but not overbearing with summer fruits and citrus. Warming mid palate with a fresh mint leaf flavour leading on to a rich creamy mouthfeel.

FINISH: Initially soft, mellow and smooth with a creamy finish. Lingering spice and a dryness as the oat influence becomes evident.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points, Top 100 Spirits Of 2021 - Wine Enthusiast

"Fresh cut apple and a hint of smoke lead the nose. The robust, flavorful palate offers a surprising plummy note, finishing long and drying with cayenne and clove heat. Altogether, the pleasing effect is like spice cake doused in whiskey."

93 Points & #8 TOP 20 OF 2020, #1 Irish Whiskey Of The Year - Whisky Advocate: "Among this year's strong field of new single pot still releases, Kilbeggan bottled a gem of an Irish whiskey that sparkled brighter than them all. The already historic whiskey style achieves a powerful air of authenticity. First it's distilled in the oldest working pot still in Ireland, and the 19th-century Locke family recipe incorporates 2.5% oats, a common addition at the time. Melon, candied peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, and honeysuckle aromas cascade into a palate made especially lush and creamy from the oats, with citrus peel, apricot, and roasted hazelnut flavors leading to a mellow, rounded finish, adeptly exhibiting a crisp articulation of pot still spiciness throughout." - Jonny McCormick
