About the Whisky:

Matured in an exceptional quality Oloroso Sherry cask from Spain’s Sherry Triangle and hand-selected from the 2009 distillation year, this whisky offers a smooth and rich profile with a complex character. Each sip unveils a harmonious blend of dried fruits, rich nuttiness, and a bouquet of aromatic spices, all delicately laced with gentle whispers of marzipan and vanilla. Presented non-chill-filtered and at cask strength, this whisky retains a full, natural flavour profile, perfectly preserving its rich and fragrant essence.

Tasting Notes:

Flavor: Plum and mixed dried fruits, balanced by citrus and caramel sweetness. Lush aroma of candied-cherries, raisins, and almonds, finishing with delicate vanilla, showcasing Kavalan's signature tropical fruit style.

Palate: Dark chocolate and captivating espresso aroma, followed by toasty brown sugar, intertwine with rich woody notes. Refined tannins with cinnamon and clove create a balanced, warm sensation.

Awards/Reviews:

Grade: A- (Drinkhacker)

"The nose starts thickly with rich, dried, dark fruits, including prunes, dates, and black figs. Aromas of rum-soaked figgy pudding and walnut oil linger a layer below those dried fruits. Even further in arrive light rose and herbal notes, which pair with some continuing nuttiness to evoke Persian almond cake with cardamom. The first sip is rich in both cocoa and tea tannins, like a dark chocolate bar laced with the essence of Earl Grey. Brandy-heavy fruitcake is up next, the fruit a little sweeter and even more decadent than on the nose. The back palate turns slightly bitter, a handoff from sweetened to unsweetened chocolate with a kick of drip coffee. On the finish, tart tropical fruits come roaring in, particularly guava, papaya, and starfruit."
