About the Winery:
After living the rock and roll life in Napa and then owning his own wine shop in Seattle, Charles Smith founded K Vintners in 1999. Growing from 330 cases of Syrah in that initial vintage to an internationally recognized and awarded winery with accolades of over 100 x 95 point scores and over 400 x of 90 or more for his wine, Charles Smith is a Washington Wine Power house.

A self-taught winemaker, Charles is a true artisan and a pioneer in the wine world. In 2008, his winery was recognized by Wine & Spirits magazine as one of the "Best New Wineries of the Last Ten Years," and as "Winery of the Year" in their annual buying guide. He has been named "Winemaker of the Year" In 2009 by Food & Wine magazine, in 2010 by Seattle Magazine, and in 2014 by Wine Enthusiast magazine. In the top tier of producers in Washington State, Charles Smith fashions singular, exotic wines that never lack for richness or texture.

Winemaker Notes:
The Boy is a wine unto itself. Individual in every way. Layer upon layer. Seamless with certainty. A masterpiece to be experienced.

Vineyard

Powerline Estate Vineyard (100%)

Owned and farmed by Dana Dibble, planted in 2001. The site is located south of Walla Walla in the old Walla Walla River bed; the soil is rocky and with great drainage. The clone of Syrah sourced is Tablas Creek, which thrives in the big river stone cobble. This is the warmest site in the Walla Walla Valley.

Ratings & Reviews

99 Points - James Suckling:
"Super smooth and mouth-filling but also lacy and filigreed, the wine combines powerful, broad and ripe strawberries, red plums and cedar on a full body blanketed in soft tannins but with fresh acidity. Aged 18 months on the lees in neutral, large-format barrels. Drink now or hold." (Feb 2024)
