About This Wine:
This bottling is made up of 100% Muscat of Alexandria from multiple old mountainside vineyards located in the Valley of the Lagares, Almáchar, of the Málaga DO where the inclinations are up to 70°. The dry-farmed, hand-harvested vines were planted between 1960 and 1980 upon beds of solid slate rock and decomposed slate with a small percentage of white quartz. After a manual harvest, the fruit sees primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks using wild yeast. Secondary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks following the Charmat method of sparkling wine production.
Ratings & Reviews
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2022 Vintage):
"Offering persistent effervescence and white peach, candied-orange peel and rose-petal aromas, this sparkling wine is softly sweet but retains some of the savory of the Muscat grape. Flavors of peach and rose petal transfer to the palate and are joined by notes of jasmine and dried sage and thyme. Delicious on its own, this sparkler would also be a nice accompaniment to blue or strong soft cheeses or to a crème brulée or flan." - Mike DeSimone (July 2024)
"Sourced from the villages of Almáchar, El Borge, Arenas and Alta Axarquía in the coastal mountains of Málaga, the 2022 Sparkling Muscat Botani is 100% Moscatel de Alejandría. Charmat-made, this bright green wine offers aromas of roses and jasmine, along with a joyful, dry and expressive palate. The bubbles add an interesting foamy texture, stirred up by a bright acidity." - Joaquín Hidalgo (April 2024)
