About the Whisky:

Complex, elegant, and full of character, our inaugural expression is a delicious dram which unfolds in your glass, revealing itself over time, just like the island itself.

Made to our carefully refined blenders' recipe, we combine spirits which have been matured by the coastal village of Ardhasaig in selected first fill Ex-Bourbon casks, first fill Ex-Oloroso and Fino sherry butts.

We then marry these spirits in batches for a minimum of 12 weeks to bring additional harmony to the final dram.

The result is an Outer Hebridean single malt of distinction we're proud to bottle and bear our elemental island's name.

Enjoy neat, with a small drop of water, or simply any way you like it...

Tasting Notes:

“ I get a gentle peat smoke on the first sip which reminds me of island home fires burning when I was growing up. It comes along with a toasted maltiness. I can also taste homemade apple sauce and smell machair flowers, particularly white clover which springs up on our west coast every summer. Mixed spices appear, and an old-fashioned sweetness from things like candied ginger, vanilla, and honeycomb. Finally, there’s a long, clotted-cream note, mixed with a lasting sense of new leather. ”

Shona Macleod, Carragreich, Isle of Harris.

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - Whisky Advocate
"The Isle of Harris Distillery’s debut is a marvelous dram with aromas of sweet orange peel, lime zest, pear, heathery peat smoke, vanilla, jellied candy, and floral top notes. The concoction has sweet fruity notes, citrus, gentle smokiness, and flavors of grapefruit, lime Jell-O, vanilla, honey, pepper, and subtle sherry, becoming rich and creamier with vanilla fudge, stone fruits, walnut, and cacao, ending with a pleasantly spicy finish."
“I can’t tell you how impressed I am...the flavour profile is truly unique. I have never tasted a whisky like it, and have rarely been so impressed by a first release. It really does seem to embody the island of its birth. Sea- spray, kelp and smouldering peat smoke; elemental but also gentle. Soft vanilla fudge, faintly floral and with a texture as soft as a Gaelic song - very more-ish!” - Charles Maclean MBE - Whisky expert and writer.

"Coastal minerality and subtle spice lead to a lively palate of vanilla, honey, and orange marmalade, finishing with a gentle salty warmth and faint smokiness."
