Notes from the Winemaker:
Highly expressive with extraordinary quality and character, Inglenook's 2013 Rubicon offers upfront aromas of cherries, black currants, and dark chocolate with substantial presence of oak, toast, and floral notes that continue evolving as the wine opens up. A dense, voluminous palate imbued with very fine tannins showcases flavors of dark crushed berries, cassis, and smoky wood.

As the flavors gradually broaden, nuances of tobacco leaves and spices emerge. There is a precision and elegance to this vintage, which finishes with freshness due to the balanced natural acidity. Expect beautiful development as this wine matures.

Ratings & Reviews

97 Points - James Suckling:
"An aromatic and complex red with currant, white-chocolate and rose-petal character. Full-bodied, tight and polished. Fine and long. Beautiful now but will improve in time."

97 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon emerges from the back part of the property, which lies on the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. Here the wines are dense, powerful and structured. That is exactly what comes through in the 2013. Layers of dark fruit built into a crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures laced with mocha, espresso, gravel and dark spice overtones. The new oak that was so prominent at the outset has begun to integrate and in so doing is allowing the fruit to come through to a greater degree than in the past. This is a tremendous showing for the 2013 Rubicon." - Antonio Galloni (12/2016)

97 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Starting to show its full character at seven years old, this is definitely in sight of peak drinking, although going nowhere for another couple of decades. Sit back and enjoy the layers of blueberry and cassis primary fruits, now softening into campfire, leather and black truffle edging. This is so good, with a still muscular structure that is turning into a slow stretch of supple tannins. A signature Napa Cabernet. 75% new oak. Drinking Window 2020 - 2040."

18/20 Points - Jancis Robinson:
"Very fresh nose -- terribly tempting to say it smells like young Ch Margaux! Aromatic and complex. Bone dry and appetising. Very racy. Extremely classy and dusty plus bordeaux plus beauty. Minerals aplenty and very fine tannins. More energy than the 2011 but with very similar tannins to the 2011." (2/2015)

96 Points -The Wine Independent:
"The 2013 Rubicon, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet in color. It prances out with notes of creme de cassis, blackberry preserves, and chocolate-covered cherries with a waft of lilacs, clove oil, potpourri, and tobacco leaf. The full-bodied palate is tightly wound with bright acidity and very firm, grainy tannins, featuring loads of mineral and earthy sparks and finishing long and savory. This is so, so multi-layered and gorgeous! Drink 2023-2040." -LPB (6/21/23)
