Producer Notes:

In 1974, when A.H. Hirsch first imagined his now-legendary bourbon, he set the gold standard for thoughtful American whiskey, developing the now-legendary A.H. Hirsch 16-Year-Old Reserve, a whiskey that’s famously been called the “best bourbon you’ll never taste.” Today, bottles of A.H. Hirsch 16-Year can go for more than $12,000 in some retail stores.

What does that have to do with the Bivouac? Well, everything — HIRSCH used a custom mash bill based on that legendary whiskey to develop this brand-new, stunning release! The good news is, this particular edition is much more affordable than its predecessor, yet no less premium.

The Bivouac is a blend of two whiskeys:
95% of the blend is from a 3yr, 9mo bourbon distilled by Bardstown Bourbon Company, using a 74% corn, 18% rye, 8% barley mash bill

5% of the blend is from an 8yr bourbon distilled by Willett, and uses the same 72% corn, 13% rye, 15% malted barley recipe as last year's Hirsch Single Barrel

50% ABV - 100 Proof

"The nose is somewhat tight at first but opens to aromas of coffee cake, fruit cup, and faint notes of cherry, citrus, and dried herbs. The palate is smooth and silky, with light spice, cooked plums, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. Earthier notes of mature oak and dunnage floor keep the sweetness in check nicely. On the finish, pleasant oak, honey, and chocolate. Solidly built and well-integrated; a very nice sipper."
