Notes from the Winemaker:
Our estate Linda Falls Vineyard is comprised of seven hilltop acres on Howell Mountain, this small vineyard produces one of three vineyard designate Cabernets in the Heitz Cellar collection. Selected for its unique position and topography on Howell Mountain, Linda Falls Vineyard allows for a distinct terroir expression in our classic, Heitz style.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, farmed sustainably and certified organic by CCOF and Certified Fish Friendly Farming.
The palate is unlike any other wine that we produce. The elevation, soil, and aspect force the grapes to struggle. This hardship produces a wine of incredible density and structure, magnified by the characteristics of the vintage. The combination of tart and ripe black and red fruits with high mountain herbs of juniper and Douglas Fir make this one of the most unique expressions of pure Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. -- Brittany Sherwood, Winemaker
Ratings & Reviews
98 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Linda Falls Vineyard is the most impressive of the single-vineyard Cabernets from Heitz. Striking inner perfume and vertical structure give the 2019 so much allure. This drop-dead gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon explodes with Howell Mountain intensity allied to a palpable sense of classicism. The Linda Falls is a real standout. (Drink between 2024-2044)" - Antonio Galloni (Dec 2024)
97 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Pretty and focused, laced with bright acidity. Aromas of cherry and blackberry fruit mingle with crushed cocoa nibs, violets and rose petals. The palate builds with great intensity, juicy acids and a host of warm, spiced red and black fruit, along with fresh floral nuances. Soaring yet refined tannins lead to a long finish marked by salty mineral tension." - Jonathan Cristaldi (Mar 2025)
95 Points - Wine Advocate:
"This seven-acre site, planted in 2002, has yielded an excellent 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Linda Falls Vineyard. Intense cassis notes mark the nose of this black-fruited, inky-flavored wine. It's medium- to full-bodied and firm but already drinkable, with a crisp, lingering finish that hints at star anise and loamy earth." - Joe Czerwinski (Oct 2025)
92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Mulled loganberry, red currant and açaí notes are mixed in with light menthol, licorice and iris accents. A bright streak of iron pierces the finish. Distinctive in profile, though not as generous as the top examples in this vintage. A magnum-only release. Best from 2025 through 2040." - James Molesworth (Nov 2024)
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Cracked pine and cedar intermingle with red currants and tart cranberry sprinkled with sea salt. This Cabernet is brightly acidic with tannins that melt and coat the mouth. Persistent." - Elaine Chukan Brown (Oct 2025)
