The Hartford Court Russian River Valley Pinot Noir comes from a collection of small vineyards located throughout the Russian River Valley AVA. These vineyards are a combination of our Estate properties such as Barbieri, Bellflower, Fog Dance, Hailey's Block, Jennifer's, MacLean's Block and Arrendell as well as a handful of our neighbors' vineyards located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The sites express the essence of the Russian River Valley by showcasing the best of the neighborhoods within our AVA.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of black cherry, allspice, black currant and loam are followed by flavors of wild raspberries, dark berries and a crushed rock minerality. The dense entry is followed by a sweet and juicy mouth feel, supported by acidity, silky tannins and a subtle earthy finish.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Pouring a deeper ruby/magenta color, the 2022 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is ripe and layered in the glass, with a generous, inviting, pure perfume of black cherries, cola, sweet baking spice, and forest floor. Medium-bodied, it has a lot of charm and a good, weightless feel, with fine tannins and a clean finish. I love that it never feels heavy but is 100% Russian River Valley in character. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. This is a lot of wine for the value. – Audrey Frick (Jun 2024)
92 Points - The Wine Independent:
"Medium ruby-purple in color, the 2022 Pinot Noir gives up eager-to-please scents of juicy strawberries and ripe raspberries followed by hints of violets, dark chocolate, and menthol. The medium to full-bodied palate is velvety and refreshing, with bags of red and black berry flavors, finishing with a minty lift. Native strains were used for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and the wine is unfined and unfiltered. The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a barrel selection from all of Hartford Court's Estate and Designated Vineyard properties across the Green Valley, Laguna Ridge, Santa Rosa Plain, and Sebastopol Hills neighborhoods."
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
A darker and more savory style of Pinot Noir, this wine shows aromas of shiitake, black cherry and fresh herbs and earth on the nose. The palate gives a streak of raspberry-lemon acidity to balance some grippy tannins and cola spice flavors on the finish.
