About the Winery:
Contratto was founded in 1867 in Canelli, the heart of a prestigious wine producing area. The company always had a reputation as one of Italy's premier Brut sparkling wine producers.

According to Antonio Galloni, "One of Italy's most historic houses, Contratto was exporting sparkling wines to England and other countries back in the 1920s. After a long period of near obscurity, Contratto has been revitalized by new ownership headed by Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta. Rivetti has a huge passion for Champagne," making it a natural fit.

About the Wine:

The Millesimato has the bright intensity and definition of the highest caliber sparkling wine. A Pinot Noir (~80%) and Chardonnay (~20%) blend, this wine is hand-riddled in the cellar where it ages nearly 5 years before release. In the mouth, it is creamy and rich with fine, soft beading. Abundant honey, apricot and sweet almond meld with notes of lemon mousse and honeydew, resulting in an undeniably delicious and appealing wine.

Vinification:
Grapes are manually picked & selected & kept seperate according to their vineyard location. They are cooled down in the winery before crushing & only the free fall juice is collected. First & second fermentation with indigenous natural yeast. After the first fermentation, the wines stay to mature until May after harvest & then bottled for the 2nd fermentation.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Alta Langa Pas Dosé Millesimato wafts up with a pretty bouquet of peach sorbet, white cherries and orange shavings. It is soothingly round with a cascade of mineral-infused bubbles and crisp orchard fruits. A distinctly salty sensation emerges through the finish, adding mouthwatering freshness as it concludes with lovely length. (Drink between 2025-2029)" - Eric Guido (Dec 2025)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"Walnuts, brioche, dried apples and preserved lemons on the nose, followed by a creamy, mellow and dry palate with fine bubbles. Attractive salty and nutty undertones. Drink now." - JS (Nov 2024)
