Notes from the Winery:
Our Ghost Block Single Vineyard wines are created from the highest quality fruit from our family’s four finest organically-farmed vineyards, including the Morgaen Lee and Ghost Block Vineyards in the Yountville AVA and the Pelissa and Rock Cairn Vineyards in the Oakville AVA. Crafted in extremely limited quantities by our longtime, talented Winemaker Kristi Koford, Ghost Block Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignons are extraordinary, collectible wines representing the pinnacle of the Pelissa family legacy.
About the Vineyard:
Ghost Block Vineyard is one of Napa Valley’s most distinctive sites, resting along the eastern slope of Yountville Hill and adjacent to the historic George C. Yount Pioneer Cemetery. Millions of years ago, a dramatic shift in the Vaca Mountains exposed layers of ancient volcanic rock, creating the foundation for this remarkable vineyard. The east-facing vines enjoy gentle morning and afternoon sun, balanced by cool evening breezes and early fog from San Pablo Bay. This combination allows the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly, developing both concentration and freshness. Farmed organically by our family for generations, Ghost Block Vineyard produces Cabernet Sauvignon with depth, elegance, and a true expression of its storied land.
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful aromas of blackberry compote, plum jam, and black & red current are complemented by subtle notes of crème de cassis and vanilla. The first sip coats your palate with silky tannins and delicate layers of bramble fruit to offer a well-balanced, approachable, and polished wine. The oak complexity of the wine is integrated amongst the black & blue fruits, with the lovely notes of warm fall spices and savory thyme. The refined tannins accompany these flavors for a medium bodied finish. This Cabernet is crafted to enjoy now, yet will continue to develop greater character and complexity if cellared through 2038.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 80% new French oak barrels.
Ratings & Reviews
94 Points - James Suckling:
"An impressively ripe, full and velvety red that offers quiet power through deep, dark fruit and oak-spice flavors gently framed by soft, blanketing tannins. Lush, mouth-filling and luxurious, with cocoa-dusted black cherries, black licorice, star anise and vanilla bean on the palate. Drink now or hold." - Jim Gordon (Sep 2025)
Wine Spectator:
"A broad but sedate style, with warmed cassis and black cherry notes laced with worn cedar, tobacco leaf and bay accents. Shows a touch of torrefaction through the finish, but there’s a fleshiness that will appeal in the near term. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. Drink now through 2029. 1,000 cases made." - James Molesworth (Aug 2025)
