About the Winery:
Ghost Block Estates Wines is a fifth-generation family-run winery focusing on its seven distinct vineyards and making wine under three unique labels (the others are Oakville Winery and Elizabeth Rose). Today, the Pelissa grape-growing operation continues to be family-owned and run, overseen by 4th and 5th generation family members who live on and farm the land.
With access to 635 acres of premier vineyards, certified organic since 1991, the family utilizes three separate winemakers for their three labels.
About this Wine:
Sourced exclusively from our family-owned and organically farmed Rock Cairn Vineyard in Oakville, this site forms the foundation of our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted in Bale clay loam soils with a western exposure, the vineyard consistently yields fruit of exceptional depth and structure. The 2023 growing season began with abundant winter rainfall, replenishing soil moisture across Napa Valley. A cool spring delayed budbreak and extended the growing season, followed by a mild summer that allowed the vines to develop slowly and evenly. These conditions provided exceptional hang time, enabling the fruit to reach full maturity while preserving freshness and balance. Rock Cairn is comprised of seven distinct blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, ranging from 6 to 41-year-old vines. This diversity of vine age allows us to capture a range of expression—from youthful vibrancy to mature concentration—resulting in a wine that reflects both the complexity and identity of this cherished estate site.
