Notes from the Winemaker: (2009 Vintage)
The grapes were sourced from the Varozza Vineyards on Pratt Avenue in St Helena and the Jaeger Vineyards in Oak Knoll. There is a nice purity of fruit and moderate tnnins from the Yountville area and south to Oak Knoll, and it was well complimented by the earlier maturing St Helena District fruit harvested from the Varozza ranch. The grapes were destemmed to tanks and cold coaked for seven days, fermented to dryness and pressed off to barrels. The wine was aged in 60% new and 40% used French oak for 17 months prior to bottling without filtration in late April of 2011.

Tasting Notes: (2009 Vintage)
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon has en elegant, sophisticated entry, displaying a purity of red fruits – boysenberry, blackberry, slight pomegranate – and spice, light toffee and cocoa. The wine has a bright yet supple texture of fruit, blackberries, dried berries, and cream, rounded out with toast, toffee, and moderate, chewy tannins into the finish. The wine is drinkable now but will age well over the next 10 or more years.

About Galland Clark: (2009 Vintage)
Founded in 2009 when winemaker Stacy Clark had the opportunity to purchase some grapes of her own, the wine is named for her father, John Galland Clark, who “always said to be sure to mention his name whenever possible”. Stacy has spent over 25 years making wine and her day job is now as winemaker at Charles Krug. The 2009 is the first vintage of Galland Clark.
