Distillery Notes:
Fuji Single Grain Whiskey is a blend of three different grain whiskeys produced at Mt. Fuji Distillery. Those different grain whiskies are distilled in three different methods--multi-column, kettle and double stills, which provide each their own unique flavor profiles:
Bourbon type: heavier, rich, floral fruity style
Canadian type: medium, luscious, and delicately fruity style
Scotch type: lighter, soft, yet compelling.
This Fuji Single Grain whiskey features the quintessential characteristics of each of the three types of grain whiskeys: delicately fruity, mellow and with a multi-layered profile.
Distilled with water sourced from Mt. Fuji snowmelt.
Proof: 92
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromas of poached pear, rustic fruit tart, Cognac and marron glacé. Water brings out red berries.
Palate: Smooth mouthfeel with multi-layered flavors of poached pear, orange marmalade, raspberry jam, spiciness of rye, and bitter chocolate. Water brings out red berries and a delicate spiciness reminiscent of rye bread and cinnamon.
Finish: Mellow with gentle sweetness and pleasant spiciness, Smooth and moderately long aftertaste with a hint of exotic incense.
Awards/Reviews:
Gold - Intl Spirits Challenge 2021, 2020
"This is a whisky to take your time with. It really does change as it sits and warms up, and that change is entirely positive. The initial impact suggests a youth to this whisky that softens and refines a bit with a few minutes." - The Whiskey Wash
"This is a very good grain whiskey. There’s a surprising breadth of notes, accompanied by interesting flavor development. It’s one I’ve suggested to Bourbon drinkers who are looking for a reasonably affordable Japanese whisky to have at home...outclasses Nikka Coffey Grain...more refined than Suntory Chita." - Malt Review
