Production Area Notes:
The Pinot Nero vines are located on the hills of Mazzon, Pinzano, Gleno and Montagna. The individual vineyards are situated at altitudes varying between 350 and 900 meters and cultivated on very different soils. The high density planting of vines per hectare ensure the maximum quality of the grapes. Furthermore, over time, low yield Pinot Nero clones have been selected in order to guarantee the right continuity on a qualitative level.
Winemaking Notes:
The wine making process for the grapes takes place in open vats so that during fermentation the must gets in contact with the grape skins through frequent cap punch-down and with many pump-over. Thanks to these techniques the colouring substances and the fragrances contained in the skins are extracted and transferred into the wine. After this, the wine remains in barriques for over a year and after bottling it ages for a few months in the bottle.
Notes from the Winemaker:
Pinot Nero, which for Franz Haas is “the white wine among the red wines ”, is a changing interplay of colours that can go from a light ruby to an intense ruby red according to the vintage. The bouquet opens with notes of black cherries, raspberries, marzipan, plum jam, cloves and cinnamon, Finally aromas of underbrush detectable. In the mouth the wine is fresh and lively, bolstered up by elegant tannins which make it harmonious and round and guarantee a noticeable pleasantness while drinking.
Food Pairing: Pinot Nero matches with light fish dishes, roasted wild game and red meat.
Yield/Hectare: 35 TO 40 hectoliters/hectare
Number of bottles produced: 90,000 bottles
Serving Temperature: 16° - 18° C
