All Fontodi wines are produced from grapes coming from their own vineyards, picked by hand, chosen with care and vinified in a way that exalts the character of the vines and the territory. The Fontodi Oil “Bio” is produced from its own olives which are delicately pressed the same day as the harvest in order to preserve all the freshness and the fragrance of the fruit.

Ratings & Reviews
95 Points #26 Top 100 of 2020 - Wine Enthusiast:
"Fragrant and delicious, this opens with aromas of ripe black-skinned fruit, blue flower, leather, underbrush and a whiff of French oak. The full-bodied, enveloping palate delivers baked plum, Marasca cherry, licorice and a note of espresso framed in fine-grained enveloping tannins that give it a smooth texture and a weightless finesse." -Kerin O'Keefe (11/1/2020)
94 Points - James Suckling:
"A rich, layered CC with intense cherry and flower character, as well as orange peel. Full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink or hold." - (14 May, 2020)
94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2017 Chianti Classico Fontodi is a wine of extreme elegance that shows how much the house style has evolved here. A decade ago, in a warm year the Fontodi Chianti Classico would have been opulent, but these days proprietor Giovanni Manetti seeks finesse more than power, and that is exactly what comes through here. Ripe red Sangiovese fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice infuse this racy, exotic Chianti Classico with so much character. The 2017 spent two years in oak, half in cask and half in neutral oak. I loved it." -Antonio Galloni (Sep 2020)
92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"April's frost resulted in less productive vines. Giovanni Manetti saw this as an advantage in the drought-like conditions of summer. He explains that with fewer grapes, the vines suffered less stress and were able to continue ripening without shutting down. Initial scents of baked clay and dry earth make way for mint blossom and cherry. Clingy, muscular tannins wrap around dusty fruit with nuances of rust and cinnamon poking through and the acidity is remarkably racy and ripe. - MM (Feb 2020)
92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Ripe black cherry, blackberry, iron, juniper and thyme flavors mark this solidly built red. The balance walks the line between the rich profile and the assertive tannins that deliver grip on the long finish. Best from 2021 through 2032. 7,800 cases made, 2,800 cases imported." — BS (Oct 31, 2020)
