About the Winery:
Among the first to see the potential for growing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay along the fog-shrouded Pacific Ocean, we have refined our understanding of our estate properties with each passing vintage. Sometimes referred to as the “far” Sonoma Coast, our rugged, windswept vineyards represent extreme viticulture in the pursuit of crafting wines representative of time and place.

Working in agricultural isolation on the edge of the coast, just north of the town of Jenner, is done with a very specific goal in mind…to present a pure expression of one of the world’s truly exceptional places to make wine. Our organic practices emphasize our approach as stewards of the land, resulting in healthier vines and higher quality soils. Our commitment to stewardship along with our organic and biodynamic farming practices have been unwavering constants of our winemaking philosophy since our inception.

About the Wine:

Tasting Notes:
This fine-spun Pinot Noir opens with fresh aromas of coastal evergreens and wildflowers. Hints of early-season cherries follow, macerated in warm spices (anise, cardamom, allspice) and layered over earthy sandalwood. Ripe yet tangy dark berries, wearing a little dust from the patch, star on a lightly textured palate, giving way to savory herbs, delicately tannic red tea, and a pop of salty sea beans. A fascinating play of light fruit and dark spice is finished with a bright squeeze of orange peel.

Vineyard:
Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is sourced from our organically framed estate vineyard, Sea View Ridge, as well as several family-owned vineyards that share our farming philosophy and commitment to highlighting the purity of these coastal sites. The wine reflects the unique characteristics of our estates: coastal influence topography, and distinctive soils.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a medium ruby color and is fresh on the nose with notes of lifted spice, compact red berries, Bing cherries, roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a polished and fine texture, a silky feel, and clean elegance through the finish. It’s a lovely and charming Pinot Noir with a lot of finesse to drink over the coming 8-10 years." - Audrey Frick (Jul 2025)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"It's one of the first 2023 Sonoma pinots to be released and a great reflection of the long, cool growing season. Tangy, fresh and well balanced, with intricate orange zest, cinnamon, red cherry and black tea flavors on a vibrant, acid-driven texture. Medium- to full-bodied. Drink or hold." (Oct 2024)

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"This aromatic and savory wine brings aromas of roasted shiitake, black plum and clove on the nose. The palate shows spicy energy and flavors of blackberry, plum skin, sweet cinnamon and forest floor across a long, meandering finish." - Tom Capo (Apr 2025)

93 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"Salty fresh ocean spray with cranberry and strawberry scents on the nose. Some forest floor and wet soil accents add the savoury touch but this is lovely and expressive on the nose. Smooth and almost subtle, it’s not super bright, more knitted down and quiet right now - straight with a spiced vein that stays from start to finish. I like the succulence and precision however, there is still great acidity, but this presents more power than poise right now. 3.65pH. The first time this wine will be sold via the Place de Bordeaux. Owner Huneeus Vintners, director Jen Beloz and winemaker Chantal Forthun." - Georgina Hindle (Jul 2025)

92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is another terrific wine from Flowers. Bright, aromatic and lifted, it offers up an exotic mélange of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Strong floral and savory inflections lend energy throughout. The 2023 is light on its feet and quite delicate, not to mention long on personality." - Antonio Galloni (Jan 2025)

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Fresh and focused, with raspberry and blood orange coulis lined with rooibos tea and savory notes. A subtle mineral thread supports the finish. Offers a textbook Sonoma Coast profile. Drink now through 2029. 34,600 cases made. - JM (Apr 2025)
