Winemaker Notes:
Our interpretation of Napa Valley power — profound, dense and aromatic, but always in balance. A wine that promises to be long-lived and reflective of all that makes Napa iconic.

Like its sister wine, La Magdalena, our Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from select blocks at Oakville Ranch, high above the valley floor in the eastern hills of Oakville. These red, iron rich soils produce wines of great stature and profound complexity, wines that have a signature and personality all their own. It is always a deep, structured, and complex wine – regal and statuesque.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes:
The 2019 Favia Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is all about freshness, purity, and intensity. From a vintage that will continue to attract attention, this wine comes across the palate with a serious rush. Bright red cherry, sarsaparilla, flint, and vanilla drive the profile of this perfectly ripe, fruit-centered beauty. In addition to the pure fruit flavors, there are hints of umeboshi, maraschino, and slate. The palate and finish are highly polished, and as the impression lengthens and lingers, more layers of fruit and spice are revealed.

Ratings & Reviews

98 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville comes from Oakville Ranch, and like all of the 2019s here, it's a brilliant bottle of wine. Pure cassis, toasted spice, leather, camphor, and dried herbs are just some of its nuances, and it's full-bodied, with a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a rock star of a finish. It does have a touch of background oak, and while there's no harm drinking bottles today (which is common with the 2019s), it's going to benefit from 2-4 years in the cellar. It should have over two decades of overall longevity." Maturity 2025-2039 (Feb 2023)

97 Points - Vinous Media:
"Another standout in this range, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a huge, potent wine. Bright acids and veins of tannin confer power to this brooding, sumptuous Cabernet from Oakville Ranch. Dark red purplish fruit, rose petal, spice, cedar and crushed rocks all lend vibrancy throughout. The 2019 has turned out beautifully." Drinking window 2025-2039 - Antonio Galloni (Oct 2021)

97 Points - James Suckling:
"Lots of lead pencil, blackberry, pine needle and some resin. Full-bodied, yet tight and focused, with tight, velvety tannins. Bitter chocolate and some toasted oak. Pepper, too. Drinkable now, but give it three or four years for the tannins to soften. Better after 2026." (Oct 2022)

97 Points - The Wine Independent:
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville features notions of warm cassis, juicy black plums, and boysenberries leading to hints of dried mint, dark chocolate, and black olives with a touch of crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate is rich and impactful, with firm grainy tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and fruity. 2024-2044." - LPB (2/24)

96 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Grown in the eastern hills of the AVA, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville combines elegant notions of cassis, blueberries and pencil shavings. Sourced from the Oakville Ranch, it's medium to full-bodied, richly structured and concentrated without being hard, ripe without being soft. In short, it's a classic Cabernet and one that also finishes long and velvety. Drink 2025-2040" - Joe Czerwinski (Mar 2023)

96 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Pure and focused, with a beam of cassis, red cherry and damson plum driving through, flanked with violet and anise and supported by a sleek, iron-tinged spine. This has a great encore of fruit, with subtle mint and loam echoes at the very end. Best from 2023 through 2038. 359 cases made." - James Molesworth (Nov 2022)
