Napa Valley Cabernet is our heritage wine and speaks to our 40-year legacy as growers and producers of unparalleled Cabernet. The wine combines select vineyards in Calistoga, Oak Knoll, St. Helena, Stags Leap, Diamond Mountain, and Yountville that complement our estate vineyards in Oakville. These wines are the very embodiment of our long-established house style and are representative of all that is right with Napa Valley Cabernets. Indeed, the marriage of these diverse vineyards has enabled us to craft Napa Valley Cabernet at a nearly inconceivable level.

Since 1982, Cabernet has been a hallmark of Far Niente’s winemaking program. Our first vintages married Cabernet Sauvignon from our estate vineyard in Oakville with exceptional vineyards across the Napa Valley. With the 2001 vintage, the wine became 100% Oakville estate grown and bottled.

Then, starting with the 2017 vintage, we made the decision to craft two Cabernet Sauvignons under the Far Niente label: our legendary Oakville Estate Cabernet and a Napa Valley Cabernet.

The 2017 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, blend is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

The 2017 vintage was harvested between September 20 and October 27 and was aged in French oak (60% new, 40% once-used) for 16 months.

Tasting Notes

Lifted aromas of boysenberry and dark cherry with bright floral notes and hints of sweet toasted oak that jump from the glass at the very first swirl. A silky and lush entry with boysenberry and cherry flavors, light hint of dusty earth and spiced oak, refined and smooth tannins for a long juicy finish.
