From the Winery:
"Founded by Russ Rainey in 1986, Evesham Wood is based on the idea that small is beautiful. To maintain a high level of quality, we rely on two basic principles: obtaining optimally ripe low-yield fruit from the best possible sites in the Willamette Valley, and using minimal intervention in the winemaking process. That approach is alive and well today, and is evident in every bottle we produce." Winemaker and owner, Erin Nuccio

2021 is another vintage that began with a warmer than average Summer (it hit 118f in June!) but ended on  a cooler than average harvest. It resulted in a vintage with the richness of ‘18 but with ‘19’s pretty side — it’s built on poise rather than broad shoulders.

What a gorgeous wine. The nose jumps out of the glass with concentrated aromas of plum, violet and berries. That lift and concentration carries through as the mixed berries become even more concentrated, while beautifully balanced bright acidity leads to moderate tannins on the finish. This is why Erin came to Le Puits Sec in 2007 and never left. - 437 Cases Produced

Ratings and Reviews

94 Points - Vinous:
"What a beauty! The 2021 Pinot Noir Le Puits Sec blossoms in the glass with a gorgeous mix of dusty violets and roses complemented by autumnal spice, giving way to citrus-tinged wild berries. This sweeps across the palate with finesse, lifted and ethereal, with shades of blue and purple inner florals accentuating dark red fruits. It finishes long and hauntingly floral with a tactile mineral crunch and coating of gently grippy tannins. For lovers of old-school Oregon Pinot, the 2021 is dreamy. (Drink between 2025-2033)

93 Points - Burghound:
An enticing nose offers up an array of floral nuances, red currant, green tea and a whiff of crushed mint. The delicious, energetic and well detailed, even silky, middle weight flavors terminate in a persistent, focused and balanced finale where a touch of dusty youthful austerity slowly emerges. This is not a seductive wine but its subtle and balanced and invites you back for sip after sip. (Drink starting 2029)

93 Points - James Suckling:
Scented nose of spiced cherries, wild berries, sweet spices and a touch of bark. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and bright fruit character on the palate. Vivid and pure with a lively finish. Drink or hold.
