About the Winery:
Erbusco, is located in the heart of Franciacorta, and is home to a family-owned, boutique winery founded by Enrico Gatti in 1975. Gattis first career was in the building industry, but soon became fascinated by the world of Franciacorta. Shortly after that, Gatti decided to make a career change, grow his property, expand his wine knowledge, and put together a team to pursue his new fascination.
The winery started out as a single vineyard, one hectare in size, which was planted in 1975. Since then the winery has grown to include seventeen hectares, 42 acres, under vine. The vineyards are located at 656-820 feet above sea level, where the vines are Guyot-trained and grow on Franciacortas classic morainic terrain.
The total production is around 12,500 bottles a year.
85% Chardonnay & 15% Pinot Nero hails from 15-25 year old, Guyot-trained vines, southerly exposed, and mineral-rich, hillside morainic soil at at 720-790 feet above sea level (around 220-240 meters).
Tasting Notes
Brilliant straw yellow color with a fine and persistent perlage. The olfactory bouquet is composed of notes of citrus and bread crust, followed by traces of hazelnut, hay and chalk. The first impact flavor appears savory, resulting then fresh and satisfying. Good structure, with a mineral finish and a very persistent finish.
Ratings & Reviews
"Aromas of wild flower, yellow stone fruit and a whiff of hazelnut float out of the glass. The vibrant palate offers peach, yellow apple and nectarine alongside a hint of brioche. A lively refined perlage provides the backdrop." Kerin O'Keefe (4/1/2018)
"Lots of sliced-lemon and white-peach character follows through to a full body, with a soft texture and a fresh finish. Lively, clean, focused and pretty." (Nov 2014)
