About the Winery:

Founded in 2017, Echolands represents a dedication to the particular soils of Walla Walla Valley, where bony basalt, rock piles and layers of loess intermingle.

Our Bordeaux-style blend seeks to balance these differing elements. Our goal is to harness those characters, highlight aromatics, retain acidity and balance, and to create wines that grow in complexity with time.

Appellation: Walla Walla Valley AVA

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas of ripe purple berries, ground spices, hazelnuts and wet stones. Medium- to full-bodied,velvety and supple with chalky tannins and a fruity, textured finish. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Drink or hold." (May 2023)

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2019 Rubrum is another solid wine in the lineup. Ripe, dark, smoky fruits, cured meats, leather, and leafy herbs all emerge on the nose, and this medium-bodied, round, nicely textured red has supple tannins, a round, attractive mouthfeel, and a good finish." (June 2023)

90 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with 37% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Rubrum starts with a focused and slightly funky nose with dark red fruits, hints of iodine and turned earth. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is balanced, fresh and spicy with food-friendly tannins. Just over 5,000 bottles were made." Drink 2023-2030. - Anthony Mueller (May 2023)

90 Points - Vinous:
"The 2019 Rubrum lifts from the glass with a dark and brooding mix of musky black currants and sage lifted by a hint of camphor. This washes across the palate with a pleasant balance of ripe red fruits and juicy acids as peppery florals form toward the close. In spite of being potent and grippy through the finale, this maintains a lovely balance. Hints of wild blueberry and plum slowly taper off." Drink 2024-2028. - Eric Guido (October 2022)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"The only thing more fun than repeatedly saying “Rubrum” is drinking this wine. There's some funky earthiness here, with aromas of crunchy dried fall leaves and wet clay mixing it up with ripe blackberries and tart cranberries. The wine's tangy acidity and crisp mouthfeel goes hand-in-hand with flavors like tangerine and more blackberry. The tannins are nicely integrated at this point." - Michael Alberty (December 2022)
