Year after year the Guigal family produces wines of exceptional quality that in all classes offer exceptional value.
About the Wine:
VINEYARD
While most Côtes du Rhône Blancs are based on Grenache Blanc from the south, the Guigals flip the script and base this wine on Viognier. Since 1991, they have searched for and worked with growers to encourage new plantings for this wine. A variety that nearly died out in the mid-20th century, they believe it adds critical freshness and aromatics to this wine.
WINEMAKING
Handled at low temperatures and then fermented 100% in stainless steel tanks. While the key to this wine is its play of freshness with the expressive, concentrated fruit, it has complexity that means it benefits from some aging and development. It aged 9 months after harvest in stainless steel before bottling.
TASTING NOTE
Freshness on the nose with the distinctive aromas of Viognier; white flowers, apricot, acacia and white peach. On the palate it is fruity with plenty of richness and body. A well-rounded wine with elegance, strength and balance.
FOOD PAIRING
Seafood, Asian dishes
Ratings & Reviews
90 Points - James Suckling:
"An aromatic white Cotes-du-Rhone with lots of floral aromas, including pink roses. Ripe and medium- to full-bodied. Long, creamy finish with a touch of fine tannins balancing this neatly. A cuvee based on viognier with small amounts of grenache blanc and roussanne. Drink from release." (Apr 2024)
15.5/20 Jancis Robinson:
"60% Viognier, 15% Roussanne, 10% Marsanne, 8% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, 2% Grenache Blanc. Blossom, stone fruit, sweet apple juice, more acid than you might expect – keeps the tension, finishes crisp. Moderate length, textbook typicality." - Richard Hemming MW (May 2025)
