About the Tequila:

A lusciously smooth sipping tequila with just the right amount of sweet agave honey notes.

Alma Miel is an homage to farmer and Don Julio founder Julio Gonzalez, the heart and soul of tequila.

To honor his legacy, the distillery has crafted this unique blend of blanco tequila distilled with oven roasted agave honeys and blended with its award-winning anejo which has been finished in sweet wine casks. The result is an extraordinary tequila: Lusciously smooth and subtly sweet with notes of honey, spiced orchard fruit, creamy caramel and rich toasted agave, perfect for sipping in moments worth cherishing.

The Blend:

A BLEND OF AGED AND UNAGED TEQUILAS WITH AGAVE HONEY EXTRACTION

AGED: REPOSADO AGED IN EX BOURBON BARRELS FOR 10.5 MONTHS WHICH THEN GO INTO CREMANT DU LIMOUX CASKS FOR 4 MONTHS

RESULT: 14.5 MONTH ANEJO FINISHED IN CREMANT DU LIMOUX BARRELS

80 proof

Taste Master - Tequila & Mezcal Masters 2024

 Grade: A- (Drinkhacker)

"The nose is much more herbal and agave-forward than expected, boldly green and peppery, with only a vague hint of sweeter notes. Whether that sweetness is specifically honey-driven or something influenced by the barrel in a more traditional anejo style is hard to pinpoint, but it’s ringed with notes of caramel and vanilla whipped cream.

On the palate is where things really start to pick up, and while I initially felt the tequila to be a touch closed off, I soon found things gelling well in the glass. Cautious first sips are heavy on the greenery, but time in glass and some patience help to reveal the spirit’s sweeter side. Alma Miel smells like a blanco but it drinks much more like an anejo, melding green agave with notes of vanilla custard, coconut, and lime leaf. Ample, lingering vanilla on the finish invites continued pours from the bottle."
