About this Wine:
Having established Pingus as a new benchmark for greatness in Spanish wine, Peter Sisseck has embarked on a new quest: to produce a wine that captures the soul of Ribera del Duero. And he intends to do so by harnessing the passion of the region's growers who have, for far too long, lacked the tools, capital, and vision to make wine that is truly theirs.

PSI is the 23rd letter in the Greek alphabet and is a joint project based on fruit produced by local grape growers from old Tempranillo vines. The goal is to help these producers and save these old vines. Peter Sisseck's recent project, PSI, has involved a lengthy and meticulous study of the greatest potential vineyard sites in Ribera, with the laudable aim of protecting the region's precious, but increasingly rare old bush vines, found around the region, but particularly in the sub-zone of La Horra. Once the top sites are identified, Sisseck pays a premium for the growers' fruit, in return for a promise not to grub them up. The result is a "give back" to the region wine that also expresses the "soul" of Ribera.

Ratings & Reviews

93-95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2022 PSI is clean, expressive and open, much more approachable than the more reductive 2021 that I tasted next to it. It's primary, fruit-driven and precise. "The fruit selection was better in 2022," explained Sisseck. It has contained ripeness and a polished texture and is sleek and elegant, with fine tannins. It feels like a step up from 2021. This was also the final blend waiting to be bottled—clarified, sulfur added and everything, so pretty much the wine that is going to be bottled." - Luis Gutierrez (Jun 2024)

93 Points - Tim Atkin:
"Pairing Tinto Fino and 8% Garnacha, most of it from vineyards to the east of Aranda, this is vibrant, focused and subtly wooded, all pomegranate, black cherry and mountain herbs on the palate, with nicely understated 5% new wood."
