About the Domaine:
No other Domaine serves more as the cornerstone and stands more in the defense of terroir than that of the iconic Peyraud family of Domaine Tempier. When Lulu Tempier married Lucien Peyraud in 1936, her father gave them Domaine Tempier, a farm that had been in the family since 1834. Tasting a pre-phylloxera bottle of Tempier Bandol inspired Lucien to research the terroir extensively. By 1941, thanks to Lucien and neighboring vignerons, Bandol had its own A.O.C. Lucien will forever be celebrated as the Godfather of Bandol. Raising deep and structured wines of such refinement and longevity has made Domaine Tempier truly a grand cru de Provence.

About this Wine:
Rosé Tempier offers the right balance between complexity and freshness. It offers a beautiful structure, without tannin. The quality of the work in the vines and the diversity of the terroirs give it an authentic aromatic intensity, far from synthetic flavors.

Ratings & Reviews

For previous 2023 vintage:

93 Points, Rank #55 Top 100 Wines of 2024 - Wine Spectator:
"Aromatically complex and seductive, this complex rosé offers waves of red berry and chalky mineral notes from start to finish. Still tightly wound, with pink grapefruit acidity driving its energy and elegance. Hints of smoke and fresh chives hover over the long finish alongside a dusting of fleur de sel. Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault. Drink now through 2028. 2,350 cases imported." - Kristen Bieler (Jul 2024)

93 Points - Vinous Media:

Wonderfully perfumed, the 2023 Rosé entices with orange oil, nectarines, crushed wild berries and savory herbs. Rich and broad yet with a stimulating core of acidity, this plays a game of contrasts on the palate, mixing citrus-laced green melon with zesty spice and crisp mineral tones. A cascade of rosy inner florals fills the senses, as a resonance of white peach and a zest of lime keep the mouth salivating. Glorious today yet also gently tannic, the 2023 is a showstopper. - Eric Guido

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
As always, this estate crafted one of the most perfumed and complex rosé wines in France. The 2023 Bandol Rose exhales aromas of spring flowers, guava, lemon, spices and iodine mingled with delicate licorice hints. Medium-bodied, textural and layered, it’s perfectly balanced with a fleshy core of fruit and bright acids, concluding with a long, mineral and iodine-inflected finish. Kudos!

Anthony Lynch:
"The big news in the last few years at Tempier has been the addition of new vineyards tucked away in a cool, high-elevation, late-ripening corner of the Bandol appellation, acquired in response to—and in anticipation of—a warming climate. Vigneron Daniel Ravier has integrated the fruit into the Tempier bottlings little by little as his understanding of this new terroir deepens, and as the vines respond to their new stewardship and biodynamic treatment. Recent releases suggest an absolutely seamless assimilation of these new parcels: this is textbook Tempier rosé, featuring zippy citrus zest, nectarine and peach, and a cool-fruited finish accented by a biting herbaceousness. The pristine balance, fine-grained texture, density without weight, and class throughout leave no doubt that this remains among the world’s finest rosés."
