"The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru comes from two parcels comprising 1.5 hectares. This is a distinct level up from the Village Cru, with a nose of red cherries, wild strawberry and light rose petal aromas, all beautifully defined and quite Mugneret-Gibourg in style. The medium-bodied palate offers slightly chalky tannins on the entry. Quite compact and not a deep Nuits Saint-Georges, though there is fine mineralité toward a finish replete with blackberry and dried blood/ferrous notes. I suspect it will flesh out during the remainder of its élevage, and it should be fascinating to watch in bottle." Neal Martin - (Jan 10, 2020)
