Méo-Camuzet is one of the most celebrated domaines of the Côte d’Or, located in the heart of prestigious Vosne-Romanée. The domaine boasts fourteen hectares of land in some of the most spectacular appellations and crus of Burgundy. The vineyard land in Burgundy is highly parceled out among families, which makes it rare for anyone to have enough vines to be able to bottle one grand cru, let alone the six that the Méos have.

At the foot of "la Tâche” and "les Malconsorts”, in a slightly deeper clay soil, the winery holds two plots of a total surface area of about 4 acres. With its classic eastward orientation and good supply of water, it is a fairly "solar” vineyard which cannot be considered as a late ripener. This organic 1er Cru from Vosne-Romanée is exactly what you’d expect: seductive, elegant, and seriously beautiful.

Tasting Notes

Notes of red fruits, wet earth, and mushroom jump from the palate and lead to a lasting finish. While this wine is approachable in its youth, it is also certain to evolve gracefully over the next 5-7 years.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Broad and fleshy, exuding black cherry, raspberry, plum and spice flavors. There are light vanilla and sandalwood elements, along with chalky, tactile tannins on the lingering finish. Best from 2022 through 2037.” - BS (Dec 2020)

91-93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
“The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes wafts from the glass with an inviting bouquet of orange rind, peonies, red berries and ripe cherries. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an enveloping attack and a generous core of ripe, sweet fruit that's balanced by some fine, chalky tannins and lively acids. This is a youthfully head-turning bottle of Les Chaumes in the making.” – William Kelley (1/2020)

91-93 Points – Vinous Media:
“The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has an understated bouquet, tightly wound with crushed stone percolating through the red berry fruit. The lightly spiced, medium-bodied palate displays an attractive grainy texture, good tension and a precise if slightly rigid finish that will soften with time. Good potential.” – Neal Martin (1/2020)

90-93 Points – Allen Meadows’ BurgHound:
“Here the very fresh and pure nose is spicier still with notes of anise, hoisin, sandalwood and floral nuances that add a touch of elegance to the mostly red berry scents. The vibrant and tension-filled medium-bodied flavors are firmer and perhaps less seductive than usual but also longer and more structured than usual. I would add that it's rare when this wine is at more or less the same level as the Murgers or the Boudots but at this admittedly early stage, it appears that it is. We will of course see in time but for now, I find this to be very impressive in 2018.” (1/2020)
