Ratings & Reviews
"Pale lemon and lime. Some grace to the bouquet though the detail is still to follow. The bouquet suggests just the right oaking. I can find a little fresh orange blossom, though predominantly white fruit, excellent grip behind and impeccable length. A Puligny with backbone, for sure." (May 2022)
93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is lovely, unwinding in the glass with notes of citrus zest and pear mingled with hints of white flowers, bread dough and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with racy acids and a fine-boned, elegant profile, it concludes with a long, saline finish." - Wiliam Kelley (Jan 2023)
93 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Clavoillon 1er Cru has a delineated and tightly coiled nose with crushed stone-infused green apple, rather fresh considering the growing season, with hints of grass clipping. The palate is cohesive on the entry with a bitter lemon note that lends this Puligny tension; it's fresh and saline with a cohesive and persistent finish. Very classy and has immense promise. - Neal Martin (Jan 2023)
93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This white evokes earth and stone flavors, along with peach, lemon and spice notes. Dense, with light tannins emerging on the butterscotch finish. A bit rigid now, yet vibrant and long. Best from 2025 through 2033. 2,310 cases made, 924 cases imported." - BS (Jun 2023)
91-94 Points - Allen Meadows' BurgHound:
"This is also sufficiently reduced to completely overshadow the underlying fruit. On the palate there is terrific, indeed almost painful, intensity to the medium weight flavors that flash the innate refinement of a fine Puligny before culminating in a very clean, sleek, bone-dry and chiseled finale. This is presently very tightly wound and a wine that definitely will need at least some patience. Excellent and this is a step up from its usual quality." (Jun 2022)
