About the Winery:
Since its creation by Aimée and Hubert Brochard in 1900, Domaine Hubert Brochard has been committed from one generation to the next to producing wines representative of the diversity of the Sancerre terroirs. In July 2022, the Bollinger family group bought the Domaine. A new adventure begins, based on a vision: there is not one Sancerre but different Sancerre. It is the richness of the terroirs, the plurality of styles and personalities, the meeting of cultures and know-how that will allow people to (re)discover the subtleties of the appellation. The Brochard team is led by winemaker Rodrigo Zamorano with a precise target: to showcase the unique individuality of these remarkable Terroirs.

This Sauvignon comes from vineyards surrounding the beautiful Chateau de Thauvenay near the Loire Canal. It is a Chalky soil dating from the kimmeridgian period. The vineyard is HVE environmental certified (High Environmental Value). Sauvignon grapes are harvested partly with machines and by hand. Pressing is only in pneumatic presses. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature in order to keep all the fine aromas of Sauvignon. This clay-limestone marl will give quite fat, round Sancerre. The bottling is around June the year after the harvest.

Vineyard

Hubert Brochard Vineyard is a total of 93 Ha : 83 Ha in Sancerre (with 10 Ha of Pinot Noir), 5 Ha in Pouilly Fumé, 5 Ha in IGP. It is very fragmented and extends over the villages of Chavignol, Sancerre, Amigny, Sainte Gemme, Ménétréol , Saint Satur, Thauvenay and Vinon. Powerful erosion has developed many types of soils (Chalk, Caillotes and flint). The average age of the vine is 30 years old. The vineyard is HVE environmental certified (High Environmental Value)

Vintage

A warm, dry summer in the Central Loire with timely September rain in 2023 resulted in grapes reaching full ripeness and textbook alcohol levels.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Wine Spectator:
"There's plenty of aromatic charm to this supple, medium-bodied version. Celery seed and fresh-cut chive notes infuse a base of melon and white cherry, with meadow blossom high tones. Offers gentle earthiness on a chalky palate, with white tea tannins and a jolt of acidity cleaning up the finish. Drink now through 2029. 1,583 cases imported." - Kristen Bieler (Nov 2024)
