About the Domaine:
Jacques Seysses started Domaine Dujac in 1968 when  he bought the Domaine Graillet in Morey-Saint-Denis, which he renamed Domaine Dujac (a pun on his first name, meaning the Estate that Jacques owns).  This family-owned winery seeks to develop their vineyards through responsible vineyard techniques, which among other things led to the certification for organic farming in 2011.

About the Wine:
The lieu-dit Les Monts Luisants lies northeast of the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, at the top of the slope, where it is very steep (24%). This east-facing lieu-dit varies greatly in altitude, from 311 to 343 meters.

The soil on this hillside is 60 to 80 cm thick, rich in angular limestone gravel in a sandy-silty matrix. The soil is rich in carbonate, and very sensitive to erosion.

The Quaternary substratum of Les Monts Luisants is composed of limestone scree, bedded deposits known as litées grèzes. These angular Comblanchien limestone gravel deposits cover the slope in layers that are sometimes more than ten meters thick.

Ratings & Reviews

96 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"This wine is always among my favourite whites from the Côte de Nuits; 2022 is no exception. There is a lovely freshness, especially considering the vintage – even more than the Pulignys. According to Jeremey Seysses, this is consistently among the wines with the lowest pH (thus highest acidity); this year, 3.05, with an ABV of 13.2% at harvest. Ripe nectarine and apricot aromas, hawthorn flowers, mint, and a saline minerality waft from the glass. The texture is chiselled—compact, lively, fresh, yet still dense and powerful and with impressive length—superb wine; this should improve for years to come." Drink: 2028 - 2065. - Charles Curtis MW (Nov 2023)

92-94 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Wafting from the glass with notions of crisp stone fruit, white flowers, bread dough and oatmeal, the 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Monts Luisants Blanc is medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with tangy acids and a seamless, harmonious profile." - William Kelley (Jan 2024)

92-94 Points - Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:
"The Monts Luisants was served last, being a higher acid site. Quite different in bouquet, not reductive, floral plus fresh apple, The Monts Luisants offers a citrus note as well. The lemon scents continue through on the palate which has a fresh limestone feel. A touch of lime as well. Long, and fine. Drink from 2027-2034." (Nov 2023)

90-92 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Monts Luisants Blanc 1er Cru has a little more charm than I found on the 2021 last year. Hints of lemon verbena, chai and white chocolate furnish the nose that is subtle in style and appears to "grow" in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a lime-infused entry. There’s fine bitter lemon edginess here with a touch of reduction towards the slightly pithy finish." - Neal Martin (Jan 2024)

89-92 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A cooler and airier nose speaks of wet stone, lemon-lime and just sliced green apple. The super-sleek and beautifully detailed flavors are finer still though they don't offer the same volume on the mineral-driven, youthfully austere, chiseled and balanced finale. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping should be helpful. (Jan 2024)
