About the Winery:
The Château Pegau is located 10 minutes north of Avignon and to the south in the continuity of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
Château Pegau covers 40 hectares of a classic blend of grape varieties. Planted in 1950 Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre & Cinsault will be the benchmarks for the southernmost expression of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Village wines from Château Pegau.

Winemaker's Note:
Born under an Osage orange tree, the Cuvée Maclura Côtes du Rhône calls for the greediness of the fruit revealing a blend of spices with delicate tannins. Designed with respect for the traditions of the south, this cuvée is like our grandmothers’ cuisine : generous and full of life.

Ratings & Reviews:

92 Points - James Suckling:
"A pretty complex nose of cherries, berries, dried herbs, cola and baking spices. It’s medium-bodied with finely grained tannins. Round and juicy with a bright core of cherries and some chocolate undertones towards the finish. Balanced and delicious with a vivid finish. Drink or hold." (Apr 2023)

91 Points - Decanter Media:
"There’s a good sense of ripeness here, bringing interest and a particular strawberry and raspberry expression to the aromas, followed by fine, gently chewy tannins. Tastes like this was grown in Châteauneuf terroir, it has that breadth and presence. Clay soils covered in galets, whole-bunch fermented using natural yeasts. (Drink between 2023-2026)" - Matt Walls (Apr 2023)

Jeb Dunnuck:
"Leading off the Château Pégau releases, the 2020 Côtes Du Rhône Cuvée Maclura has textbook southern France-like garrigue, leather, pepper, and both red and black fruits in a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, charming style. It's perfect for enjoying over the coming 4-5 years. (Drink between 2022-2027). (Nov 2022)
