About the Winery:
Domaine Drouhin has been on the viticultural cutting edge in Oregon since their first vintage in 1988, and continues to set the pace. Winemaker Véronique Drouhin-Boss’ roots go deep into her family’s 13th century cellars under the streets of Beaune, the heart of Burgundy. With centuries of Burgundian winemaking experience flowing through her blood, Véronique has lovingly crafted every drop of wine produced at Domaine Drouhin Oregon since the first vintage in 1988.

About the Wine:
1988 marked the first vintage of our Pinot Noir cuvée. Over three decades later, this classic cuvée is the foundation of our work in Oregon, and proudly at home on many great wine lists and in personal cellars. The fruit is harvested entirely from the Drouhin family’s Dundee Hills estate, and the wine is focused, as ever, on elegance, balance and finesse.

Winemaking
Our Pinot Noir is handpicked into 25-pound totes, then hand sorted and de-stemmed in our four level gravity flow winery. Fermentations are long and careful and by November, all of our Pinot is safely in barrel. Our barrels are custom made in Burgundy, using oak from France’s best forests, allowing the character of the soil and vintage to show. through.

Véronique’s Tasting Notes:
The 2023 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is complex and beautiful. Its nose reveals rhubarb, dried violets, black tea, and plum, accented by a subtle hint of oak. The palate unfolds with notes of sour cherries, white pepper, stone fruits, and earth undertones. While youthful, it showcases a lovely balance between tannins, the bright lift of vibrant red fruits and acidity. It will be exciting to watch this wine evolve over the next 5-15 years. Santé!

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Suckling:
"A deep, serious and structured wine that’s quietly powerful and age-worthy at a reasonable price. Tightly woven tannins, black fruit, bracing acidity and an elegant mouthfeel. Reserved in a good way, it is drinkable now but best from 2028." (Mar 2025)

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
Each glass swirl propels smoked raspberries, cool cellar floor earth, Darjeeling tea and talc aromas. Velvety tannins exercise a subtle grip, and lemony acidity makes the mouth water. The wine's flavors are a mix of black cherry, bergamot orange and light touches of oak spice. There's a purity of fruit here that, when combined with an elegant mouthfeel, makes for a memorable sipping experience.

93 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Well-sculpted and elegantly dynamic, with lilting raspberry and pomegranate flavors laced with green tea, rose petal and savory spice accents. Ends with fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033. 14,449 cases made." – Tim Fish (Jun 2025)

93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"A bright red color, the 2023 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills is approachable and inviting, with notes of wild roses, cranberries, elegant spices, and a snappy lift of crushed stones. Medium-bodied, it has a lovely chalky texture, balanced acidity, and a clean, balanced length. It’s drinking well now but should also hold up over the coming 6-7 years." - Audrey Frick (Aug 2025)

92 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills has alluring aromas of red cherry, orange peel, damp earth, mushroom and slowly emerging spicy undertones. The medium-bodied palate offers highly concentrated, layered flavors. It’s structured by velvety tannins and bright acidity and has a long, spicy finish. 14,449 cases produced." - Erin Brooks (Dec 2025)

92 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"A ripe and black-fruited Pinot Noir from the very warm 2023 vintage in the Willamette Valley. It is a generous wine with lavish aromas of blackberry, damson plums and a hint of roast cinnamon stick. The palate shows polish with an intensity of ripe red and black bramble fruits, spicy cola and clove and a finish of structure framed by black tea." – Clive Pursehouse (Feb 2025)

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills bursts from the glass with a vividly ripe mix of crushed blackberries, raspberries, licorice and clove. Wild berry fruits unfold across the palate, subtly offset by crunchy mineral tones as an air of violet pastille amasses toward the close. The finish shows chewy length while remaining fresh." - Eruc Guido (Jul 2025)
