About the Winery:
Domaine des Comtes Lafon has been in the Lafon family since 1865. Dominique Lafon took over the domaine in 1985. It is comprised of approximately 14 hectares situated in the communes of Volnay, Monthélie, Chassagne-Montrachet, and of course, Meursault, where the domaine and its monopole vineyard Clos de la Barre are located.

All the vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and they proudly own every Premier Cru in Meursault. Dominique retired at the end of 2021, handing over the reigns to his daughter, Léa and nephew, Pierre, who as part of the fifth generation of winemakers in the Lafon family, will continue this domaine’s superstar reputation not only in Burgundy but throughout the world. Dominique does, however, remain active as an advisor.

About this Wine:
2012 was the first vintage that the Clos de la Baronne had been bottled as a single parcel. The bottling is sourced from the 2.7ha Clos de la Baronne, a monopole of on average 40-year-old vines.

Ratings & Reviews

89-91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2022 Meursault Clos de la Baronne, only distributed in the United States as usual, was the first to be picked on August 24. The light, focused bouquet has apple blossom and grass clippings. The palate is medium-bodied with fine balance, quite taut and fresh with a dash of spice on the finish. Fine." – Neal Martin (Jan 2024)

88-90 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Aromas of sweet orchard fruits and baking spices introduce the 2022 Meursault Clos de la Baronne, with a medium-bodied, soft and ample palate that's round and giving. That makes it the most approachable (but also the least interesting) communal bottling in the cellar." - William Kelley (Jan 2024)

88-90 Points - Jasper Morris:
Early to pick here. Pale in colour, with an attractive if not especially nuanced nose. Plenty of fruit on the palate which builds nicely, some pears as well as apples, medium length with adequate acidity. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted Oct 2023.

Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A discreet though still visible application of wood sets off smoky aromas of petrol, white orchard fruit and a floral suggestion. The rich, generously proportioned and caressing middleweight flavors conclude in an attractively dry and refreshing finish. This straightforward effort is pleasant and delicious though it could use better depth. Drink 2027+" (Jun 2024)
