About the Winery:
Domaine des Comtes Lafon has been in the Lafon family since 1865. Dominique Lafon took over the domaine in 1985. It is comprised of approximately 14 hectares situated in the communes of Volnay, Monthélie, Chassagne-Montrachet, and of course, Meursault, where the domaine and its monopole vineyard Clos de la Barre are located.

All the vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and they proudly own every Premier Cru in Meursault. Dominique retired at the end of 2021, handing over the reigns to his daughter, Léa and nephew, Pierre, who as part of the fifth generation of winemakers in the Lafon family, will continue this domaine’s superstar reputation not only in Burgundy but throughout the world. Dominique does, however, remain active as an advisor.

About this Wine:
The 1er Cru Porusots is an east-facing vineyard with deep clay soils. The site produces lavish, layered and deeply structured wines.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"The 2022 Porusots seemed oddly fresher and more substantial when tasted from cask. The aromas spanned citrus, apple, and peach; the texture was dense and luxurious yet enlivened by crisp acidity. The particular structure of the wine must be due to both the clay in the soil and the slight turn to the northeast of this lieu-dit. Lafon farms nearly a hectare in metayage from René Manuel, which makes him the largest proprietor here." – Charles Curtis MW (May 2023)

93-95 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2022 Meursault Les Porusots 1er Cru has a sophisticated bouquet with crushed limestone infusing citrus fruit mixed with yellow flowers and a little undergrowth. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This feels harmonious, lovely, poised and pure, with hints of tropical fruit decorating yet not defining the finish. Superb." – Neal Martin (Jan 2024)

93-95 Points - Jasper Morris' Inside Burgundy:
"I like the nose here, it has tension but somehow playful. There is enough genuine weight of fruit to fill out the bone structure of Porusots. Excellent intensity while the fruit retains a vivid freshness, with plenty of acidity. This has the structure to grow into an impressive wine. Drink from 2029-2037." (Oct 2023)

92-94 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Firm reduction is all that can be discerned on the nose today. More interesting are the tension-filled and tautly muscular, if not super-dense, medium weight flavors that culminate in a firmly mineral-driven, moderately austere, linear and impressively persistent finale. As is virtually always the case, this serious effort will need extended cellaring to realize its full potential. Drink 2032+" (Jun 2024)

91-93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"More tensile than the Goutte d'Or, the 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Porusots exhibits notes of citrus oil, white flowers, crisp green apple and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and tensile palate with good cut and persistence." – William Kelley (Jan 2024)
