The 5.05 hectares that make up the Genelotte are a patchwork of plots of varying ages, with an intimate mix of massal and clonal selection within the plots.

From two to almost a hundred years of age, each vine flourishes on clayey and very cool soil: a formidable weapon in the fight against global warming.

The wines combine both the richness of Charmes and the great purity of Perrières.

Demanding, disturbing and decidedly mysterious, Genelotte, without doubt, creates a great cuvée.

"La Genelotte is one of the great underrated sites of the Côte de Beaune. Perched over the communes of Meursault and Puligny beneath thick woodland, it is a monopole farmed exclusively by Domaine de Chérisey. Old Chardonnay vines give a deeply concentrated, yet finely chiseled Meursault with toasty notes of gunflint and hazelnuts, culminating in a tonic finish characterized by biting mineral extract. This is truly electric Chardonnay whose track record of aging makes it a great cellar candidate, but it can be savored today, too, especially if given some time in a decanter."

Anthony Lynch

Ratings & Reviews

92-94 Points - Vinous Media (2019 vintage):
The 2019 Meursault Blagny La Genelottes 1er Cru is planted on white clayey soils, meaning that the vines did not suffer at all in this warm growing season. It has an engaging bouquet of white peaches and greengage, touches of red apples rather than green, and hints of lemon thyme. The palate is very well balanced with peach skin and lemon peel on the entry, a fine bead of acidity and the same spicy finish as the Hameau de Blagny. Excellent. Drink between 2024-2040.” – Neal Martin (12/1/2020)
