About the Domaine:
Domaine Camille Thiriet, founded in 2016, is located in Corgoloin,
in Côte-d'Or, in the heart of Côte-de-Nuits.
Everything is done by hand: pumping over with a bucket, foot treading, ratchet press.
At Domaine Camille Thiriet, the focus is on discreet appellations, deliberately chosen for their uniqueness.
Camille and Matt have chosen to keep production confidential, so that they can give each bottle the care it deserves.
After years of experience in both production and sales, Canadian-born cellar master Matt Chittick and adopted Burgundian Camille Thiriet combined prudence and ambition to realize a long-held dream: to create their own estate from scratch in Burgundy. They met during their time at Domaine de Bellene, where Matt held the position of cellar master between 2011 and 2014, while Camille was in charge of sales.
This experience opened the doors to the Côte-d'Or and allowed them to forge strong relationships with renowned winemakers. Thanks to this valuable combination of networking, rigor, and intuition, they now select only grapes from remarkable terroirs. Their goal is clear: to vinify discreet appellations with the greatest care.
In 2021, Camille and Matt had the opportunity to acquire 0.80 hectares of Côte de Nuits-Villages "Le Clos Magny", their first vineyards in Corgoloin. The following year, in 2022, they took over Domaine Gilles Jourdan, adding another 5 hectares, still in Corgoloin.
The Domaine Camille Thiriet now covers 6 hectares, with the following appellations:
Bourgogne Aligoté – Bourgogne Blanc – Rosay – Bourgogne Rouge – Côte de Nuits Blanc – Côte de Nuits Rouge.
About the vineyard:
A rare monopoly of 0.60 hectares, La Robignotte lies below the mountain, on a unique terroir crossed by a vein of blue marl. The clay-limestone soil is deeper and richer than on the other plots on the hillside, with a beautiful presence of silt that gives the wine a supple and velvety texture. The nose reveals intense aromas of black cherries, enhanced by a floral touch of violet. Deep and distinguished, this wine for laying down par excellence combines charm and power with great finesse.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Jasper Morris:
“A beautifully concentrated crimson purple. A stunning nose here with more intensity than the others. A grand nobility of fruit all the red berries. Fills the mouth, supported by quality granular tannins, but seamless all the way though. A future 1er Cru? There are plans to submit a dossier to promote the top terroirs of the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation. Drink from 2028-2036.” – Jasper Morris (Nov 2024)
17+ Points - Jancis Robinson:
"Monopole. Dark clay soils with blue marl.
Mid-pale ruby. Faint, discreet nose of sweet red berries, contrasting with a richer mid palate with raspberry and cassis. Robust with solid fruit and structure. Dry, savoury finish. - Matthew Hayes (Dec 2024)
