About the Winery:
In the world of wine, there are many good winegrowers. However, there are only a very select few who are truly great, and Auguste Clape will go down in history as one of the greats. A proud and uncompromising pioneer of fine winemaking in the Northern Rhône, his Syrahs from the cru of Cornas have earned their place among the most celebrated wines of France.  Domaine Clape is legendary in the Northern Rhône. This world-class estate was the first in Cornas to estate-bottle Syrah and sell it under their own name.

Domaine Clape’s eight hectares of stacked terrace vineyards, scattered across the Rhone Valley, grow on predominantly granitic soils, dedicated to Syrah-based wines vinified in a traditional style.

About this Wine:
‘Renaissance’ is rich and full-bodied, yet approachable in its youth. The wine shows smoky notes of dark plums, overripe black cherries, wet stones, and herbs. Open in a few years-- it’s worth the wait!

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Cornas is a solid red that’s concentrated and elegant, offering crushed violet, red plum, red cherry and iodine layers paired with stemmy gradations. The medium-bodied 2021 concludes with wonderful freshness on the savory finish. It shouldn’t take long to come around, something that cannot be said for the surrounding vintages." - Nicolas Greinacher (Mar 2024)

91 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2021 Cornas Renaissance checks in at 12.3% alcohol and is a charming, forward effort offering medium-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe red and blue fruits, pepper, and sappy herbs. It's balanced and has ripe tannins as well as the more focused texture of the vintage. Give it a year or two and enjoy over the following decade." Drink 2025-2036. (Mar 2024)
