WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES

Pernand-Vergelesses is located northwest of Beaune. The very steep slopes here enjoy good south-easterly exposure and white marl soils, predominantly limestone. The 1er Cru Sous Frètille is at the top of the Corton hill, just above the Gran Cru Corton Charlemagne itself. Grapes are hand-harvested and then carried in small boxes to the cellars, where they are sorted. Fermentation takes place in oak casks between 64-68°F. Lees are stirred in the casks twice a week. The wine is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

A brilliant golden color, with flowery aromas and hints of hazelnuts. An elegant wine with a lot of finesse and freshness. Serve with cooked fish or white meat with creamy sauces.

Ratings & Reviews:

90 Points - Allen Meadows' BurgHound:
”This is also aromatically cool and airy with its array of citrusy green apple scents. There is very good richness and better volume to the attractively vibrant medium-bodied flavors that flash ample minerality on the clean and dry finale that offers sneaky good length. This pretty effort could use better depth but more should reasonably develop if held for a few years first.” (Jun 2023)
