About the Winery:
Di Costanzo’s passionate focus is single-vineyard, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted by partners in wine and in life, Erin and Massimo Di Costanzo.

We started Di Costanzo here in the Napa Valley because we saw room at the table for makers like us, and for wines like these. We believe in sustainable farming, impeccable and soulful winemaking, followed by pure enjoyment when the cork is pulled. Let the wines be celebrated. And when examined, let no trace of the winemaker’s hand show.

The origin of Di Costanzo is a story of respect. Respect for classic producers of fine wines. For memories made at boisterous restaurants, tables laden with glasses of wine. And for tradition, learned over long family lunches at Massimo’s ancestral home in Positano. That respect is embodied in our unshakably high standards for our selection of heritage vineyard sites and careful winemaking in the cellar.

Technical Information

The Vineyard:
Caldwell Vineyard sits high on the southern rim of Napa’s Coombsville AVA, cooled by the San Pablo Bay, with a bird’s eye view up the valley. Di Costanzo sources from a choice block on the estate, planted in 1983, from cuttings smuggled out of Bordeaux. Sustainably farmed, Di Costanzo Caldwell shines with complex aromatics and remarkably expressive fruit and structure.

Ratings & Reviews

98 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"From the mighty Caldwell, one of the pioneers of Coombsville, this 100% varietal wine is tart and tangy in currant, orange peel and fresh, lasting acidity. Complex and structured in graceful, powerful tannin, it unleashes plenty of power beneath a framework of elegant understatement and intrigue. Enjoy it best from 2029–2039." - Virginie Boone (Mar 2022)

97 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Caldwell Vineyard presents a stunning expression of this Coombsville site. Ample and potent, the 2019 has an extra kick of mid-palate richness over the 2018. Blood orange, rose petal, spice, licorice and pomegranate all build in the glass. The Caldwell balances fruit intensity with a classical interpretation of structure. The 2019 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine." Drink 2027-2039. - Antonio Galloni (Sep 2021)

95 Points - James Suckling:
"This has aromas of wild blackberries, blueberries, lemon zest, sage, oyster shells and graphite. It’s medium-bodied with firm, very fine tannins. Mineral, silky and elegant. Drink from 2024." (Mar 2022)

93+ Points - Wine Advocate:
"From a Coombsville vineyard planted in 1983, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Caldwell Vineyard is south of Farella and slightly higher in elevation; it's the latest site from which Di Costanzo sources fruit. Thyme accents add interest to the blueberry and cassis in this fairly tannic offering. It's medium to full-bodied, dusty and long on the finish, with plenty of potential given five years or more in the cellar." Drink 2025-2040. - Joe Czerwinski (May 2022)
